2010 Ofrenda - Art for the Dead Art Exhibition & Parade

Deadline for application: Monday, September 20, 2010. The artist will be notified by September 30 of final selections. The non-refundable registration fee is $35.00. We do not charge any sales commission. There is no insurance of the artwork. We can host 35 visual artists and 10-15 3-D artists (size permitting). 3-D artists need to bring their own pedestals. Each visual artist receives a 8 x 4 ft area for her/his display. An Ofrenda board panel will screen your submissions to ensure that your art fits with the Mexican Día de los Muertos tradition. It is first come first serve, and the slots will fill up.

The below activities are optional for the presenting artist. However, we would like to point out, the more you get involved with Ofrenda the whole lot more fun it is. Last year over 250 people marched the streets down to the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Join us again!

Ofrenda Parade

We will do a parade on Saturday Oct 30 starting at 7 P.M. from the historic market square in Old Town Alexandria, which leads down to the art exhibition. Come dressed in your favorite Day of the Dead costume, play an instrument, or bring a puppet.

Ofrenda Public Altar

Every year we ask the artists and the public to bring offerings for their beloved ones to our public altar. We are looking for artists to help us this year to make it even better and bigger. The altar gets built on October 27 at 6 P.M.

Ofrenda Panel Installation

Art Outlet is an all-volunteer non-profit organization. Our exhibitions and events are brought to you by artists and visionaries. Please consider volunteering for an hour. We need help with installing and de-installing the panels. Thank You.
